EMPA

Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology, is a research institution within the ETH domain and plays an important role in education, science and innovation in Switzerland. It specializes in applications, focused research and development, and provides high-level services in the field of sustainable materials science and technology.

The Environmental Risk Assessment and Management Group (ERAM) of the Technology and Society Lab has the aim to establish the scientific knowledge for a comprehensive and early view of opportunities and risks of applications based on new materials.

Role in the project:

The role of EMPA in SUNSHINE is to advance the quantitative modelling of the release and mass flows of nanomaterials to the environment.
