SUNSHINE annual meeting in spring 2023 in Venice
27 months of SUNSHINE…
…but this is our first in-person group photo. Greetings from our general meeting at the Università Ca' Foscari Venezia!
At our annual meeting, we discussed the SUNSHINE case studies and the project’s overall progress. While originally planned as a smaller part of the project, SUNSHINE is now organising itself along the SIA e-infrastructure on the one side, and the four case studies on the other side.
Our four case studies are focused on different applied cases of MCNMs:
Avanzare: halogenated flame retardant products currently used
CIAC: building materials/coatings
Encapsulae: anti-pest cereal grain packaging
Laurentia: anti-stick coatings for bakery applications and sol-gel coatings for metal protections
All work packages contributed their perspectives to the case-study-based workshops at the meeting. We discussed theoretical results as well as the technical handling of some topics, like how to best process samples of essential oils. Additionally, we looked at the current status of the SUNSHINE SIA e-infrastructure and discussed the next steps in its evolution.
Altogether, it was a fruitful exchange and we are looking forward to working together in the months to come.
